Holiday Brisket

Slow-cooked juicy brisket layered with vegetables, dates, and warm Middle Eastern flavors. The star of the holiday table.

Ingredients

5 lbs 5 lbs beef brisket
4 4 onions, sliced
4 4 carrots, chunked
1 cup 1 cup dates, pitted
2 cups 2 cups red wine
2 cups 2 cups beef broth
5 5 garlic cloves, minced
2 tbsp 2 tablespoons Baharat or Ras el Hanout
4 tbsp 4 tablespoons olive oil
2 tbsp 2 tablespoons honey
4 sprigs 4 sprigs fresh thyme

Instructions

1. Season brisket with Baharat, salt, and pepper.\n2. Sear in a Dutch oven until browned.\n3. Add sliced onions, carrots, dates, wine, broth, garlic, and thyme.\n4. Cover and braise in a 300F oven for 4-5 hours until tender.\n5. Slice against the grain and serve with the braising liquid.
